Telugu newspaper Eenadu features AID

The "Eetaram" section of "Eenadu", a popular Telugu newspaper featured AID in its online version on October 22, 2005. "Eeataram" is a youth section in the Eenadu newspaper.

Thanks to Manoj, an AID Baton Rouge volunteer, we have an English translation of the article, as well, below !!

Lately it's the help to tsunami helpless...
Yesterday lending hand to Katrina victims...
Today it's the Pak, Kashmir earthquake relief activities...
This is not about a boring list of government activities.

It's and attempt to put forth the way hearts of our youngsters in US are responding.

If life and study abroad gives you a picture of non interference by any responsibilities and a happy jolly life then you are mistaken. In spite of enjoying every possible amenity available our young men and women in US proved they are always there when there is a need for help. When ever and where ever there is a natural disaster they are the fore runners representing AID. Let's see what made so many young people join hands and walk in this path together.

Banding for everyone's welfare:
15 years back at university of Maryland few Indian students thought of the welfare of country and instead of stopping there they teamed up as Association for India's Development (AID). With out any discrimination AID fights poverty, illiteracy and bringing focus on social welfare, education, health and village development are few among its major goals.

The love for country:
Even if they are on far off lands they were responding to every situation in our country. They supported Medha patkar during Narmada Bachav Andolan. They severely condemned Gujarat riots. They showed universal brother hood by candle light vigils. AID's response to Orissa cyclone and Gujarat Earthquake could be mentioned as unparalleled. They raised funds and with its volunteers and NGOs they worked for these victims. Yes coming to the funding part it started with collecting money from friends and coworkers helping them to work on small projects and from there it made a multi facial expansion. Now AID is working in nearly all the states in US with over 1000 volunteers most of whom are students.

Fraternity:
When the recent Katrina hurricane created rampage in US nearly 30 of Louisiana State University students took an active role in the rehabilitation. In their campus basketball courts which are set as relief camps they helped in everything from distribution of food and medicines to even sweeping floors. AID is now working hard to help the victims of Pak-Kasmir earthquake victims. AID also is setting plans for future development programs in country. It is starting its project to eradicate illiteracy and poverty in 10,000 villages. It's stated the development activities in Srikakulam district with helping farmers getting electric connections, seeds, and supply chain for village projects among nearly 25 villages. Retrospection of their activities on timely basis and with focus on future the organization is moving forward towards betterment.

Constructive efforts:
Not only is AID working during unpredicted disasters but it is always on the forefront in constructive efforts. When the NGOs send their project proposals AID reviews it and after a volunteer makes the site visit they approve funds. The AID team regularly gets the progress reports of the project and releases funds. AID did nearly 400 projects in 18 states in the country along with NGOs and AID directly involving itself in some. AID conducted video presentation, seminars, posters and news letters to enlighten the problems of poverty and illiteracy. For the great works it does AID raises funds through cultural programs and other events. It approaches the donors in and outside the country. "One for India" campaign is an online fundraiser they have. Not only are they serving from there but people like Ravi Kuchiminchi, Aravinda, Balaji Sampath, Rachana Dingra are working on grass root levels here in our country.
