AID organized its annual conference in Minneapolis on May 28-30 2005.
What made 183 volunteers spend their own money to travel all the way to
Minneapolis? It is the same magic that makes many of them volunteer
several hours a week, thinking about the hard questions of what
development really means.
Noting the high enthusiasm and idealism among the AID volunteers,
Sahitya Akademi winner and founder of the AID-supported Bhaasha tribal
academy, Dr.Ganesh Devy, said in his keynote speech that AID is
uniquely poised to deliver true and lasting social change to India, and
that all the volunteers need to step up to this historic challenge.
Inspired by this energy from the AID conference, several new
and older volunteers alike have shared their conference experiences
with us. We present a few perspectives in our conference newsletter. At
once intensely personal and deeply concerned about society, these
articles are a reflection of AID's commitment to internal and external
change.
