1000 teachers trained in Krishnagiri, TN

1000 teachers learnt new tools of teaching in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu as part of an AID India initiative.

More than 1000 teachers from all Government primary schools in Krishnagiri took part in a one-day training program for the Padippum Inikkum – a remedial Tamil reading initiative organized by the AID India team. Teachers acquired new skills in using reading kits and assisting children through fun learning activities. In partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu and the state Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA), teachers will be able to use these educational kits and posters and reach out to over 7 lakh children in  6500 schools across five districts.

The feedback from teachers who participated in the training sessions was very positive. Their enthusiasm and openness to accept new ideas and to venture into innovative experiments was instrumental in making the training  successful.

One of the goals of this program is to have all children from the 3rd - 5th standards, in the five districts be able to read Tamil fluently by the beginning of next year.
