Deadlines!
Newsletters are due on the 15th of the month. Past experience shows
that unless you meet the following deadlines, you will not be able to
produce the newsletter on time -- so PLEASE CONFORM TO THE DEADLINE!
- 5th of the month -- Send out a list of proposed articles to the publications team.
- 10th of the month -- Send out a first draft to the publications team for review.
- 15th of the month -- Finalize, upload and release!
Finding content
Content sources
- AID Forums (in particular, the Publications forum )
- Updates from the main AID website
- Ask projects team about recent site visit reports (write to projects@aidindia.org)
- Ask projects team for list of recently approved projects
- Ask your friendly neighborhood Publications coord if he has any articles. :-)
- Send an email on the chapter-coordination list asking for articles
Editing your content
Please read the Editing guidelines and conform to them.
Preparing the pdf newsletter
Dishaa template | TMIA template
- Download the appropriate template file, which is in Word format.
- For TMIA -- You'll need to prepare a 2-page pdf file AND the same content on the
webpage as text articles. See the latest TMIA,
and you'll see what I mean.
- For Dishaa -- you'll need to prepare a 4-page pdf file AND upload this same content on the webpage as text articles. See for example, the latest Dishaa and you'll see what I mean.
- If you want, you can have condensed
versions in the pdf file, and longer versions in the webpage. It's up
to you.
Preparing the online html content
- To create the newsletter online, you will need to login to
the website.
- Go to the article on uploading newsletters and follow the instructions.
- The publications coord should already have created a category on the website, e.g. "November 2006 TMIA
Articles" -- you need to put individual articles in this section, and
the table of contents in the section "This Month in AID". If you are preparing a Dishaa, you will put the table of contents in the "Dishaa" section (duh).
