A Penny For Our Jar
AID-TAMU reports about their successful 'Penny Jar' campaign as a novel way to raise funds effectively.

The Texas A&M chapter of AID has been successfully running its penny drive for several years now. Today, following a modification to our program, all incoming students are provided with AID-TAMU's penny collection jars featuring the AID logo/website and phone numbers. AID volunteers can be contacted to pick up the donations, once the jars are filled. Some students have kept the jars at their work place.  Some jars are placed at local Indian stores.

We collected over $100 over the first few weeks. AID-TAMU hopes to raise over $1000 by the end of this year, from the large Indian community living in College Station. Moreover, the penny jars serve as a constant reminder about AID-TAMU and the work that AID does. Volunteers at AID-TAMU look forward to providing guidance to other chapters that would like to launch a similar drive.
