AID USA Cricket Cup - Cricket for a Cause |
|
Duke hosted the 5th Annual AID Cricket Cup with 36 teams, including two kids' teams. The Blue Panthers from Atlanta , Georgia emerged as the Champions of the tournament by defeating the Winston Warriors Blues from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. With sponsorships from local businesses, the players and fans raised $7800 to support grassroots development projects in India. Immensely popular, these tournaments bring the community together for development and social justice causes in India. Chapters in the US plan to hold a National Cricket Cup (in Spring 2008) where semi finalists from the regional tournaments will be invited to compete and have fun, while raising funds and increasing awareness for AID.
